I feel Birmingham museum have been bullies since it wasn’t found in the West Midlands
Yes – but it would need extra facilities to preserve the hoard.
Bit like the Lindisfarne Gospels, that are residing somewhere in London under lock and key where it can’t be seen, and the people in the north east, ie Durham Cathedral have to put up with a computerised image.

It’s a wonder to me too. I think that all treasure should go to the nearest museum where it is found, but only if it has sufficient security.

I feel that the value of such an amazing find should go to the place with highest security and that being the British Museum.
That said i think the local people of Staffs should be allowed to view what was found in the locality so a road show would be an option.
The finds are going to help with what we know about the Saxons and should not be risked. I have been into some of the local museums in England over the years and the security is minimal and the cost to improve it would be more than allot of them can afford.
Kevin Leahy who is the leading UK Viking/Saxon archaeologist was/is working in the Birmingham area where he is currently working as a find liaison officer which may account why the treasure has arrived there to stop him commuting whilst he collates the information on the items and maintaining his visibility for his day job.
